The 2018-19 Girls' STEAM Series began with a keynote presentation for 650 girls featuring Hatboro-Horsham alumna, Janelle Benjamin (HH '97), COO of SuperData Research, a market intelligence company in the video gaming industry. Janelle was accompanied by her VP of Strategy, Stephanie Llamas, a globally recognized expert in augmented and virtual reality. Janelle shared a message about tenacity, reflecting on her first failure as an entrepreneur and explaining how the lessons learned helped her find success in her next venture. Stephanie visited Keith Valley's Makerspace and introduced students to the latest developments and applications for virtual reality. She also spoke candidly of her experiences attending video gaming conferences and being the only female in attendance. She encouraged the girls to persevere and be confident in their abilities.
