Established by a group of business people and educators
in 1987, the Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation
is one of the oldest educational foundations affiliated
with a school district in Pennsylvania. The founding
vision championed two ideas: providing programs that
add value to the community from a cultural perspective,
and providing funding through a granting process to
teachers and principals for innovative educational projects
for the benefit of the students in the Hatboro-Horsham
School District.
For the past 20 years, the HHEF has brought many notable
figures to the Hatboro-Horsham community, such as former
First Lady, Barbara Bush; foreign correspondent, Andrea
Mitchell; Washington correspondent, George Stephanopoulos;
Olympic figure skater, Peggy Fleming; news anchor, Robin
Roberts; and underwater explorer, Dr. Robert Ballard.
Nearly every public event is accompanied by an opportunity
for Hatboro-Horsham students to experience the event
in one of the district schools, allowing for direct
exposure to those the HHEF most want to impact.
The Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation has a win-win
proposition for area businesses. Now in its fourth year,
the HHEF is proud to be a part of the Educational Improvement
Tax Credit (EITC) Program, which awards tax credits
to businesses that make contributions to approved scholarship
organizations and/or educational improvement organizations.
By participating in the EITC program, businesses can
support the foundation, help provide funding for innovative
programs in the Hatboro-Horsham schools, and receive
a 75 to 90 percent credit on their state taxes. For
more information, call the HHEF office at 215-420-5261.
With student enrichment as its primary goal, the HHEF,
since its inception, has awarded nearly $200,000 in
grants to teachers and principals for projects that
enrich the district’s curriculum and public education.
The HHEF values and depends upon the combined total
support of all aspects of our community members. Thank
you in advance to those of you who have become or are
considering becoming a supporter of the HHEF in some
way. |
